When Dead City guitarist Phillip Marfoglio began sending rough demos recorded in his bedroom to soon-to-be Dead City lead guitarist Aryeh East, it prompted East to leave Los Angeles and relocate to Memphis where the two would form American Gods.

In Memphis, the duo rounded out a live band featuring Shawn Zorn of The Unbeheld on drums, as well as Gilby Worth on bass and local recording engineer Alan Burcham on guitar. Combining a love for 90's Shoegaze and Alternative rock, American Gods is a multi-textured wall of sound that is every bit as much Swervedriver or Hum as it is Slowdive or My Bloody Valentine.

After a  year of playing out on a limited basis and sharing bills with such diverse acts as the Appleseed Cast, The Life and Times, The Octopus Project, El Ten Eleven and Blacklisted, American God’s is ready to be heard.

With the overwhelmingly positive buzz their demos created, Austin-based label Withdrawal Records was eager to add American Gods to the roster. “Chariot the Ghost”, a collection of 5 songs recorded in Memphis at the famed Ardent Studios and at Burcham’s own Secret Team Headquarters studio, is the first release with Withdrawal Records. The EP will be released this winter on vinyl with a free digital download card included, followed by a split 7” with Portland, Oregon’s own Anne due in the spring.

Along with tirelessly producing new material, American Gods will be touring the U.S. for both releases this year, so don't miss an opportunity to see them in your town.
